The Imagination "Switch"

We have this mysterious light switch by our front door.

No clue what it's meant to turn on.

I now have this superstition to keep it switched off in case it's secretly running up our power bill or...I don't know, might be launching off rockets in some other dimension??

Well, this mystery switch got me thinking.

Do you sometimes feel like there's an ON/OFF switch to your imagination?

That it's only "ON" when you're engaged in something you regard as outwardly artistic?

(And that the power might go off at any moment once you flip it??)

Well, that might mean a long time spent in OFF mode.

But let me now ask you this:

Did you pick what you would wear today?

Did you make a meal?

If so, your imagination had to be "ON," and I bet you didn't have to remember to flick the switch.

Because there ISN'T a switch.

Our creativity is innate –

It's how we build the world we live in and how we imagined our way to the moment we're in right now.

So when you show up to what you might call your "creative work..." you don't have to summon anything or pray that your muse hasn't forgotten you.

The muse is YOU.

Always has been.

Always will be.
